Dorset Swimming events for Primary Schools

Primary Schools ESSA ( Bazuka ) Team Relay Event

Sunday 27th April 2008.

Division 12 Round to be held at The Quays, Southampton

Swimmers, Parents and Teachers!
Sincere apologies for the delay in passing the details of the selection to you ... although some of you competed in events earlier this year, it has been necessary for ALL the areas of Dorset to complete their events, which they have now done.

An invitation letter will be received by your school before the end of the week, confirming start times etc.

Should your team be unable to attend for any reason, PLEASE phone 01202 681263 and leave a message,
so that reserve teams can be invited.

Thank you for your help with this!

Gina Wilcox ( DSSA Secretary )

Eligibility Criteria: Competitors must be on the school role and in full time attendance on 1st May 2008.
Age: Competitors must swim in their SCHOOL YEAR ( Yr 4,5,6 )

Events: These can be found on the entry forms, which will be available from this website in due course.

**Small schools: Those schools with less than 50 as a combined total for curriculum years 5 and 6.

Officials: a large number of officials are needed to run the gala so anyone who is able to help timekeeping, judging will be most welcome.(please notify co-ords as to whether you are qualified or not) Help is also required for the door and for drinks, recording etc. Each team must nominate one person who will be a helper, thank you!

Swimmers: Whilst these can be very competitive competitions for the top school teams, for many others it is about achieving a good time and taking part. Unfortunately, as in any sport, people will be disqualified for early relay takeovers or for incorrect stroke work. (For example, not touching on your back on the backstroke leg of relay, incorrect leg action in breaststroke ) Hopefully your children will have an enjoyable experience - so please emphasise the fun element and cheer your school!

There will be no diving from the shallow end so swimmers will start in the water NB. (the incoming swimmer MUST touch the wall before the next swimmer departs!) Some finishes will be at the deep end of the pool. Please leave the pool via the steps at the side of the pool.
All events will be heat declared winners. That is, all the times across the heats will be taken and the top 3 swimmers will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
