Date: Saturday 10 th May 2008 18.00hrs for 18.30hrs warm up. Finish 20.30hrs approx.

Venue: Littledown Centre, Chaseside, Bournemouth BH7 7DX ( 25m pool )

Entries: POSTAL ENTRIES ONLY to Gina Wilcox ( SDO ),8 Bancroft Court, 68 Longfleet Road, Poole BH15 2JE by FRIDAY 18 th APRIL

Conditions of entries into Dorset Schools’ Swimming Championship 2008.


1. Swimmers must be in full time attendance at the affiliated school to be represented, within Division 12, at the commencement of the academic year immediately prior to the Championships and are responsible for submitting their own entries (as an OPEN event )

2. Swimmers may only swim in their OWN age group Age Groups: Junior is Years 6,7 & 8 i.e. born between 1.9.1994 & 31.8.1997 Intermediate is Years 9 & 10 i.e. born between 1.9.1992 & 31.8.1994 Senior is Years 11 & 12 i.e. born between 1.9.1990 & 31.8.1992

3 The Championships assists in the selection of the Dorset Teams to swim in Division 12 ESSA Championship Gala to be held at The Quays, Southampton on SATURDAY 20th SEPTEMBER 2008. It is essential for swimmers to enter their best event. Finishing first or second in any event does NOT mean automatic selection for that event.

4. Swimmers are limited to TWO individual events only, plus the 50m F/S time trial.

5 If any swimmer cannot swim on `10 th May, 2008 due to illness, covered by a medical note, school commitment, covered by a letter from the Headteacher, or a National swimming commitment, please inform the organiser as soon as possible.

6 Entry times must be submitted for all events

7 All events will have heat declared winners, NO finals will be swum.

8 Only regulation swimwear as defined in ASA Laws will be accepted.

9 SWIMMERS INTENDING TO DIVE INTO SHALLOW WATER, i.e. from 0.9 – 1.5m, MUST HAVE REACHED THE STANDARD OF THE ASA COMPETITIVE START AWARD.
10 Schools not affiliated to their area Sports Association must pay an affiliation fee of £2.00 with their entry.

11 NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED

12 ALL ENTRY FORMS MUST BE SIGNED by the HEADTEACHER or Head of PE

13 A teacher or named team manager is in charge of the school team and is responsible for
the safety of its pupils at all times during the gala.

14 Swimmers must report for ALL events to the officials in the Sports Hall between 17.45 and 18.15 hrs before changing for the gala

15 The number of accepted entries for all individual events and 50m time trials will be restricted, due to the time factor, to the fastest 8 or 16 entries. The number of heats in each event will
be at the discretion of the organiser. The D.S.S.A. selection committee will be pleased to consider 400m Freestyle swimmers whose times are close to: BOYS – 4.15.00 secs and GIRLS – 4.40.00 secs for the
Division 12 Gala at Southampton on SATURDAY 20 th SEPTEMBER 2008, this is an Open Age Group Event.
